History

Founded by Burt Cutler in 1989 as an alternative to UCLA’s Plato organization, the first meeting was held in January 1990 –  a discussion group of approximately 10 people meeting every two weeks; one course was held per trimester. Omnilore Learning-in-Retirement is now a community of approximately 300 seniors, offering two dozen study discussion groups (S/DG’s) per trimester. Each S/DG is conceived, planned, and directed by the members. There are no tests or grades. Membership is open to all age 50+ who seek intellectual stimulation and the challenge of shared inquiry.
